A buffer offering good all-round performance for a number of different applications, including port cranes and the heavy machinery used for bulk material-handling.

The Type 9 was initially developed for overhead cranes in steel mills and is a high capacity, long life unit.  The Type 9 is now most typically used on dockside cranes but features in many other industries and applications including wagon dumpers involved in the transportation of raw material and for rail end stops.  

The Type 23 is a related unit that is more appropriate when needing to be fully compressed at low speeds.
