UK engineering company Oleo International (“Oleo”) is set to showcase its state-of-the-art digital twinning software at this year’s World Congress on Railway Research (WCRR).
The Coventry-based company will demonstrate DigitalTrains™ by Digital Virtual Reality Systems as part of the five-day event taking place on 6-10 June 2022 at the ICC in Birmingham.
A sophisticated online suite of programs, DigitalTrains™ can be used to design an effective crash energy management system. It allows users to better understand the performance of a train under normal operating conditions and how it interfaces with rail infrastructure, such as buffer stops.
A team of Oleo technical experts, including research director, Dr. Terry Williams and engineering director, Peter Lee will exhibit the software to an international audience of train operators, rail project planners, designers and end users.
As part of its involvement in WCRR, Oleo will also host a technical site visit of its Coventry headquarters, which hosts one of the largest drop test towers in the world.
The visit on Friday 10 June 2022 will take delegates through the evolution of energy absorbing technologies. It will include a behind-the-scenes factory tour with an introduction to DigitalTrains™, digital twinning and virtual twinning, as well as live impact test demonstrations and a Q&A session.
Sul Sahota, Chairman at Oleo, said: “We’re excited to showcase our industry leading digital twinning software at this year’s WCRR. DigitalTrains™ offers a complete rail project software and cloud-based environment for digital twins of rail infrastructure, including rolling stock and sub-assemblies. It also allows users to simulate multiple ‘what if’ scenarios for rail infrastructure projects.
“Oleo continues to diversify its products for the rail sector and we have become one of only a few businesses globally with the capability to deliver a complete rail safety solution. We’re looking forward to hosting a tour of our facilities and demonstrating how we design, manufacture and test under one roof.”
Part of the T A Savery Group, Oleo has been a leading design and manufacturer of energy absorbing technology for more than 60 years.
The company is based less than 30 minutes by road from the ICC in Birmingham and is conveniently located near the national motorway network, just a short drive from Birmingham International Train Station and Birmingham Airport.
WCRR delegates can book their place on Oleo’s technical tour by visiting stand 405 during the event. For more information, please visit: https://bit.ly/3LZX8y0
