UK Procurement Manager

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8.30am - 5.00pm and Friday's 8.30am - 1.30pm.

OLEO International a trading division of TA Savery & Co Limited has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Procurement Manager to join our purchasing department based in Coventry.

As a company we are a World leader in the design and manufacture of safety critical equipment used in a wide range of applications in the Rail, Elevator and Industrial sectors.

Overall Purpose of the Role:

Reporting to the UK Operations Director you will be responsible for developing a strategic procurement agenda and its delivery. The strategy shall focus on the long-term sustainability of Oleo’s UK supply chain and operations. You will be working closely with Operations and Engineering departments to drive cost down initiatives, aimed at driving value for the business. The role will be staff role interfacing with several cross functional teams based in the UK Operation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Developing an ABC analysis of UK based procurement spend, identifying key target areas and deliverables for the procurement activity (Direct & Indirect spend).
  • Establish a risk management process across the UK supply chain covering procurement as well as the wider supply chain.
  • Develop make versus buy project listings and lead decision making processes with SMT and then execution of ‘buy’ set-ups.
  • Lead procurement support for the UK’s new product development and New product Introduction plans.
  • Take a lead role in vendor evaluation and improvement corrective actions, working closely with Quality, Engineering and Operations to achieve sustainable results.
  • Custodian for vendor selection ensuring capability is aligned to groups requirements.
  • Demonstrate leadership capability by establishing personal development plans for direct reports, that are evident and actively driving individual and team capability.
  • Forecast price trends and their impact on future activities on key items covered by their portfolio.
  • Establish periodic cross functional reviews between operations, supply chain and procurement aimed at enhancing collaboration and building confidence.
  • Produce management reports ensuring KPI’s are updated in timely fashion and accountability is evident through improvements in performance gaps.
  • Support group activity on cross border activities such as global transfer pricing, ensuring due compliance.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Possess HND or Degree level qualifications.
  • An MCIPS qualification is desirable / working towards the qualification would also be considered.
  • Possess a solid working understanding of suppliers, production methods & limitations of Steel Extrusions, Forgings & Castings.
  • Knowledge of the supply of Steel Bar & Tube.
  • Technical knowledge of the different material grade of steel bar & tube.
  • Experienced in negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Proficient in understanding and translating technical drawings.
  • Analytical thinking - logically breaking problems down into their essential elements, establishing root cause(s) and developing robust counter measure solutions.
  • Experienced in managing people - looking for the best use of resources to ensure efficiency orientation.
  • Conceptual thinking - identifying key issues, seeing relationships and drawing elements together into broad coherent frameworks.
  • Establishing standards - pursuing excellence in line with organisational values.
  • IT literate with a strong ability in the use of Microsoft Excel.
