Materials / Production Planner

OLEO International a trading division of TA Savery & Co Limited is a World leader in the design and manufacture of safety critical equipment used in a wide range of applications in the Rail, Elevator and Industrial sectors.

Due to substantial growth and increased demand for our energy absorption products, we are looking for an experienced Materials / Production Planner to join our operations team based at our engineering / manufacturing facility in Coventry.

Purpose of the Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for the co-ordination and execution of all activities related to the planning and procurement of raw materials and components, converting the output of the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and the detailed schedule (DS) into material requirements to ensure availability of the right quantity of components to the production lines when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the development, maintenance, communication, and publication of the Materials Requirements Plans (MRP) to ensure that customer requirements are met.
  • Maintain Raw Materials and Components inventories.
  • Ensure that all material delivery schedules are communicated to the suppliers on time in order to meet plan requirements.
  • Liaise with suppliers to clarify potential plan constraints.
  • Interface with Quality and Stores staff regarding rejected / defective materials, making the necessary physical arrangements with the supplier to ensure a prompt return of goods or disposal.
  • Liaise with warehouse staff to understand and adhere to space constraints, managing inventory levels within agreed targets.
  • Liaise with Purchasing to ensure seamless flow of information.

Key Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Purchasing / MRP systems and supplier management.
  • Experience of working in a Production Planning / Material Control function.
  • Experience in developing & executing procurement / planning strategies for production components in the industrial domain as heavy industrial, mechanical, plastic, rubber, electro-mechanic, electronics.
  • Comprehensive understanding of MRP & visual Kanban set-up & scheduling.
  • Comprehensive PC skills, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrates effective communication and teamwork skills

This role would suit anyone who is currently working as or has worked as a Materials Controller, Production Planner, Materials Scheduler or Production Scheduler.
