Development Test Technician

OLEO International a trading division of TA Savery & Co Limited has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Development Test Technician to join our development team based in Coventry.
As a company we are a World leader in the design and manufacture of safety critical equipment used in a wide range of applications in the Rail, Elevator and Industrial sectors.
Overall Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Principal Engineer you will be responsible for setting up and testing systems for rail / elevator buffers, couplers, and end stop assemblies. The role will cover all aspects of test development including; supporting Engineers in requirement definition, test process validation and hardware specification.
You’ll be part of the T.A. Savery & Co Ltd. UKAS accredited test team that is expanding to deliver greater capability and to verify Oleo International Ltd product ranges.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Set up and perform product tests.
- Assist in the specification and set up of new test fixtures.
- Conduct a range of product tests including static, quasi-static, dynamic, durability and environmental.
- Work in accordance with Engineering / Test procedures as well as with QS9001 and ISO17025 requirements.
- Strip, examine and assemble mechanical test sample parts and fixtures.
- Set up test instrumentation on test samples and rigs whilst monitoring test rig condition for safety and performance.
- Perform preventative maintenance on test rigs and equipment.
- Calibrate test instruments and document test procedures.
- Identify and advise Engineers on product manufacturing and performance issues.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Possess a formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- Practical experience working within a mechanical product test laboratory, setting up and monitoring mechanical tests such as strength, durability and environmental etc.
- Familiar with mechanical test instruments – load cells, accelerometers, pressure transducers, LVDT's etc.
- Ability to calibrate measurement equipment.
- A familiarity with hydraulics, hydraulic mechanisms and test equipment is advantageous.
- Experienced in the assembly and disassembly of complex mechanical components.
- Competent in reading engineering drawings.
