Overall purpose of role
Set up and perform product tests robustly and in a timely manner, whilst ensuring impartiality of testing. To assist in product & process trouble shooting as required.
Contribute to continuous improvement in all test & development related activities.
Key Accountabilities
Support quality & warranty department with customer concern resolution.
Essential Experience
Practical experience within a mechanical product test laboratory setting up and monitoring mechanical tests such as strength, durability, environmental etc.
Familiar with mechanical test instruments – load cells, accelerometers, pressure transducers, LVDTs etc. & electronic data logging systems and software.
Understand the use of and be able to calibrate measurement equipment (both physical and electronic).
Familiarity with hydraulics & hydraulic mechanisms and test equipment.
Experienced in assembly and disassembly of complex mechanical components.
PC literate (Basic level Excel, Word, e-mail).
Understanding of environmental practices in an engineering environment.
Competent in reading engineering drawings.
Education and qualifications
Formal apprenticeship in Engineering (‘time served’).
Good pass (A –C) in Maths & English at GCSE / O-level preferred.
BTec {level 3} – Engineering related subject (ideally mechanical or electronics).
Additional engineering qualification in Mechanical or electronics subject, HNC {level 4} or higher.

Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm and Friday 8.30am to 1.30pm (flexi working available post probation period)
